Bruxism

Botox for bruxism
Este tratamiento consiste en hacer infiltraciones de toxina botulínica en ambos lados de la mandíbula, distribuido de manera uniforme. Previamente se aplica anestesia local tópica para que no tengas ninguna molestia. Además, el proceso es rápido e indoloro, y se aplica en una única sesión de 30 minutos. Tras la sesión podrás continuar con tu vida normal ya que es un tratamiento mínimamente invasivo. Normalmente en 15 días el músculo comienza a perder tono y se relaja. De esta forma el dolor desaparece o disminuye de forma considerable.
El bótox relaja los músculos maseteros por un periodo de tiempo bastante prolongado, dependiendo de la clase del bruximo del paciente su duración suele oscilar entre los 6 y 12 meses, siendo que transcurrido este tiempo, es aconsejable volver a realizar la terapia.
Además, el botox tiene otro efecto beneficioso para el rostro. Al relajar los músculos de la masticación, mejora la expresión de la cara y favorece la apariencia. Hay pacientes que se aplican el bótox únicamente para mejorar la estética.
